A physiotherapeutic method for releasing stiff muscle fibres and fascia.

The main purpose of soft tissue techniques is to relieve muscle pain and excess tension, release tendons and scars and work on trigger points. The techniques are particularly effective for migraines and headaches, which are often caused by blockages in the cervical spine. By releasing the cervical spine we also help improve metabolism, eyesight and concentration and ease pressure at the back of the eye, which benefits the whole body.

Fascia wraps every muscle in the body, nourishes it and supports it. Fascial release is based on the theory that any trauma — injuries, stress, anger, fear, poor movement habits or posture — is stored first in the fascia, which acts as a kind of memory of these experiences. If the fascia is not released and the traumas recur, trigger points form in the muscles: painful muscle knots that cause lasting pain in the back or elsewhere in the body.

The critical spot is the muscle next to the third cervical vertebra on the right, at the side of the neck. Once it is released, relief is usually immediate, and after the very first treatment the problems do not return to the same extent.
